About This Item

In 1999, Eric Miller, a native of Kokomo, Indiana, moved to Sonoma County to begin a new job in financial planning. He quickly grew tired of the mundane desk job and decided to move into wine production, landing positions at Belvedere Winery and then Amphora Winery while studying courses at UC Davis. Miller launched Kokomo Winery in 2004 at Timber Crest Farms in Dry Creek Valley with partner and longtime grower Randy Peters. The label presents a coastal cypress tree and signifies Miller’s move out West. Each vintage, Eric and Randy’s main goal is to craft each wine individually to represent the true character of the varietal and the terroir of the vineyard. The wines are truly handcrafted small production, allowing for the refinement of every detail through the entire winegrowing and winemaking process and ensuring the highest quality wine goes into the bottle. The duo focuses on crafting terroir driven wines from Dry Creek Valley, Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast.

Grown in the hills west of Sebastopol in Western Sonoma County, this is a premier location for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Planted in the early 1980s, Peter’s Vineyard is located seven miles inland from the Pacific Ocean at the intersection of Russian River, Green Valley, and Sonoma Coast AVAs. The combination of rich Goldridge soils and the consistent extension of coastal fog allows for an increased hangtime and results in fruit that is fully developed and packed with complexity. The wine strikes a wonderful balance with vibrant minerality and elevated acidity mingled with ripe fruit characters of pineapple, pear, and green apple. Barrel fermented and aged in 30% new French Oak, this is a great winter wine with a warm character.
