About This Item

Ernesto Catena, son of the famed Nicola´s Caten Zapata, launched Alma Negra in 2006 with a line of wines called Misterio. Ernesto wanted to give wine drinkers the opportunity to judge a wine just for what they tasted and not by preconceived notions from the wine’s composition and technical details. The mask on the label represents that mystery and hidden identity. Alma Negra means “black soul” and references the winery’s original focus on Bonarda, a grape that makes wines so deep and intense in color that they have a black soul.

ThisBrutNatureRose´isanunknownblendofMalbecandPinotNoir from two vineyard sites in the Valle de Uco. It is made in the Champagne Method and aged on the lees for 8 months. This ageing gives a supple and round complexity to the wine’s tart red fruit notes. Further ageing and technical data are of course a mystery.
