About This Item

Jean-Pierre Monier is a happy and simple man working in the Saint-Joseph region of the Northern Rho^ne on the family estate near St.-De´sirat that once belonged to his grandparents. A true man of the earth, he focused solely on the farming until 2001 when he decided to start making his own wine instead of selling it to the local co-op. He began learning about biodynamics from Maria Thun in the early 2000s and had his vineyards certified in 2006. With only 5 hectares of land, Domaine Monier was a relatively small family operation. As his wines received more and more acclaim, Jean-Pierre sought opportunities to expand. In 2008, he partnered up with Philippe Perre´ol to expand the Domaine Monier-Perre´ol holdings throughout the Northern Rho^ne.

The Marsanne grape calls the Rho^ne Valley home and is usually blended with Roussanne. It’s a great alternative for Chardonnay lovers as the grape produces rich and fruity wines with great texture. Unlike Chardonnay, all that richness comes from the grape itself, not from the use of oak so you get all the body but without the butter.
